"I painted this when my second son, Michael, was a first year Medical student at the University of Kansas. He was in class all day and studying the rest of the time. He wanted a painting for his studio apartment. In the spirit of KU, I felt this Jayhawk would encourage his dream and remind him of my support during that especially hard first year when he seldom saw daylight. "
